FAQs
How do I know which hearing aid or support package is right for me?
Picking a hearing aid and support package is very dependent on your degree of hearing loss, budget and lifestyle. Working with your hearing care professional to make a final decision about your care plan will help get you the best results.
You do have the option to select your preferences before your appointment and have those sent to your hearing care professional. During your appointment, your hearing care professional will check your hearing, ask about your lifestyle and review the preferences you shared with them. Using that information, you’ll work together to make a final decision.
Do I need UnitedHealthcare insurance to access the AARP Hearing Solutions program?
No. AARP Hearing Solutions provided by UnitedHealthcare Hearing is open to all AARP members and does not require a health insurance plan to access the program discounts and perks.
Is this program available everywhere? With all Hearing Care Professionals?
Part of the benefits of using AARP Hearing Solutions is the access you receive to UnitedHealthcare Hearing’s nationwide network of specialized hearing care professionals. To use your AARP membership to receive discounts, you’ll need to start by requesting an appointment through AARPHearingSolutions.com or calling 1-877-488-5575, TTY 711 to talk with a customer care agent.
Is the hearing exam and consultation really free?
Yes! Your first appointment is completely free. Identifying and addressing hearing loss early can help lead to the best outcomes, which is why we offer this initial consultation at no cost. If you suspect you may have hearing loss, there’s no cost or obligation to meet with a professional and find out.
Do I have to choose which hearing aids and support package I want before my appointment?
If you’re not sure which hearing aid or support package you're interested in, you can simply select “Not sure yet.” You can then talk with your hearing care professional about your options and their recommendations. If you make selections, these are shared with your hearing care professional to give them an idea of what you’re interested in. During your appointment, your hearing care professional will make recommendations and help you make a final care decision.
Can I move forward with the hearing aid but not purchase a support package?
Yes, you can purchase just a hearing aid, which includes a 60-day trial period. During the trial period, if you decide you want to add an additional support package you will be able to do that.
